Or Wich Dreadlocks Method to choose?
So your hair is long enough now to start your dreadlocks journey?.. The next step is to choose the dreading method, depending on your hair type, and the patience degree you have.
here are the different Dreading methods that exist, with advantage and disadvantage of each one. I will post an article on each method to explain in details and with videos.
1-NEGLECT METHOD:
How to do the neglect method: You don't do anything actually except washing your hair, you let it grow naturally. With time, after a year or so it will start to knot and dreads on itself, you might help it by ripping the dreads while they are growing or using rubber bands to define the sections, but the true nectlect people don't do all this.
Advantages: easy to do, no tools or products needed, no assisstance or help; It's the healthiest way to have healthy dreadlocks. No hair damages.
Disadvantages: Takes a lot of time, at least a year before the dreads start forming, or more if your hair is smooth and straight. dreads are not all of the same size, some are fat others are skinny, needs a lot of patience. read more details in this post: http://dreadlocksjourneyblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/dreadlocks-journey-neglect-method.html
2-BACKCOMBING METHOD:
How to do the backcoming method: Section your hair in squares, big or small depending on the dreads size you want, start combing the hair backwards using a dread comb, you begin from to the root of the hair to the end of it; You may use rubberbands to secure your dreads and take them off later.
Advantages: you control the size of your dreads. they mature faster than other methods. it works on all kind of hair especially straight caucasion hair. It's almost an all natural method.
Disadvantages: Takes few hours to make it. Need someone to help you. it hurts sometimes. you may lose some hair in the process.
